Calls a New Pastor
Introducing Dennis & Lynda McBride
On November 19th and 20th pastoral candidate, Dennis McBride and his lovely wife, Lynda, were here to officially candidate. They had been here twice before and were well received. We had our annual Thanksgiving Dinner on Saturday evening followed by a question and answer time for the McBrides. Then on Sunday Dennis taught the adult Sunday School class and then preached in both the morning and evening services. After the evening service the congregation voted to extend to him the "call" to become the new pastor of Bethany Bible Church. Dennis and Lynda have accepted. After several weeks of transition, the McBrides arrived in Lake Havasu City where Dennis preached officially for the first time as the new Bethany Bible Church senior pastor.
Dennis and Lynda are well qualified and have extensive pastoral ministry experience. In addition to his expertise as a yoyo master, a talent he has used over the years to reach and evangelize the youth, Pastor McBride is an accomplished theologian. He comes to us with a Master of Arts in Ministry from Talbot Theological Seminary (1985) and a Master of Divinity from The Master's Seminary (1987). A former officer with the Salvation Army (1976-79), Pastor McBride served as an associate pastor at Grace Community Church -- Sun Valley, CA (1980-1988), Publications Editor and Chaplain for "Grace to You" -- Valencia, CA (1988-1992), Pastor-teacher at Trinity Baptist Church in Solvang, CA (1992-1997) and more recently as an associate pastor and elder at the Community Church of Santa Ynez Valley from 1997 to the present. Pastor McBride, as an expositor, is committed to faithfully and consistently proclaiming the truths of God's Word from the Bethany Bible Church pulpit so we are looking forward to some tremendous growth under his teaching ministry.
We welcome our Lake Havasu City friends and neighbors to visit us at 9:30 am each Sunday morning for the adult Sunday School class and at 11:00 am for the morning worship service. The evening Family Bible Hour begins at 6:00 pm.

DECLARATION OF FAITH
We, as New Testament Christians, believe that a biblical New Testament church is a fellowship of committed believers meeting in a local place, sovereign, autonomous in deciding matters of church policy and affiliation, composed only of persons who profess to have been born again and have been immersed in water upon their confession of faith in our Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Savior.
We believe in the Plenary and Verbal inspiration and authority of the Scriptures; in the pre-existence, the incarnation through His Virgin Birth and essential Deity of our Lord Jesus Christ; in His substitutionary and atoning death providing redemption through His shed blood, and His bodily resurrection; in His ascension and exaltation into Heaven; His present mediatorial High Priestly office; in the gift of and the Person and work of the Holy Spirit; and in our Lord's personal, visible, pre-millennial return and His ultimate Kingdom and reign on earth.
PURPOSE
It is the purpose of this church to minister the Word of God for the salvation of souls, the edification of Christians, the worldwide proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. To provide for the worship of God, the preaching and teaching of the Word of God, to administer the ordinances of the New Testament, to seek the spiritual improvement of our members, to maintain a Biblical Church to minister to its own community, and to extend a ministry of the Gospel unto all the earth. |
